Ireland

I was born in Blackpool but raised from the age of ten on the Isle of Man. Even so, Ireland has always felt like home. My father was born in Swatragh — a tiny village in County Derry — and his family are farmers, rooted in that land for generations. My maiden and family name in Ireland is McKeefry — and some of my earlier paintings can be seen signed with that name. Many of our childhood holidays were spent there, and my parents eventually retired to Ireland. I still visit often. From that small country village, the surrounding landscape opens out into something extraordinary: wide Atlantic beaches, ancient castles, dramatic coastline, and countryside so cinematic that Game of Thrones chose it as a backdrop. These photographs are my own record of a place I love.
